چکیده

An attempt was made to rear the eri silkworm, Philosamia ricini on leaves of caster and reared under laboratory condition. It observed that is a primary potential host silkworm. The growth parameters cocoon characters silkworm were normal. successfully lasted its life cycle ranged from 38 40 days. effective rate rearing, weight pre-spinning larvae, cocoon, shell pupae 70 75 per cent, 6 7 g, 3.01 3.05 0.40 0.45g, 2.50 2.70g, respectively. Parameters such as length shell, width thickness etc. fecundity 400 425 eggs. Rearing performance need in western Maharashtra for future development raw silk production.

Larval Exposure to Chlorpyrifos Affects Nutritional Physiology and Induces Genotoxicity in Silkworm Philosamia ricini (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae)

Chlorpyrifos is a most widely used organophosphate insecticide because of its cost effectiveness and degradable nature. However, this pesticide enters and contaminates the environment either by direct application, spray drifts or crop run off and shows adverse effect on the non-targeted organisms. Philosamia ricini (eri silkworm), one of the most exploited, domesticated and commercialized non m...

Time Course Studies on Impact of Low Temperature Exposure on the Levels of Protein and Enzymes in Fifth Instar Larvae of Eri Silkworm, Philosamia ricini (Lepidoptera: satuniidae)

Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH; EC 1.1.1.27) and malate dehydrogenase (MDH; EC 1.1.1.37) are the enzymes involved in energy metabolism of Eri silkworm, Philosamia ricini. However, no previous study has been reported about effect of low temperature exposure on their levels in different tissues of Eri silkworm. The present study was aimed to the time-course effects of low temperature (~10°C) exposure...

The nucleotide sequence of 5.8S rRNA from the posterior silk gland of the silkworm Philosamia cynthia ricini.

The nucleotide sequence of 5.8S rRNA from the Chinese silkworm Philosamia cynthia ricini has been determined by gel sequencing and mobility shift methods. The complete primary structure is (sequence in text). This is one of the largest known 5.8S rRNAs. As compared to Bombyx 5.8S rRNA, it is two nucleotides longer; two nucleotides near the 5'end and two nucleotides near the 3'end are different...

Molecular Characterization and Functional Analysis of a Ferritin Heavy Chain Subunit from the Eri-Silkworm, Samia cynthia ricini

Ferritins are conserved iron-binding proteins that are primarily involved in iron storage, detoxification and the immune response. Despite the importance of ferritin in organisms, little is known about their roles in the eri-silkworm (Samia cynthia ricini). We previously identified a ferritin heavy chain subunit named ScFerHCH in the S. c. ricini transcriptome database. The full-length S. c. ri...

Genetic analysis of scattered populations of the Indian eri silkworm, Samia cynthia ricini Donovan: Differentiation of subpopulations

Deforestation and exploitation has led to the fragmentation of habitats and scattering of populations of the economically important eri silkworm, Samia cynthia ricini, in north-east India. Genetic analysis of 15 eri populations, using ISSR markers, showed 98% inter-population, and 23% to 58% intra-population polymorphism. Nei's genetic distance between populations increased significantly with a...
